Beaverton Downtown Equity Strategy Community Engagement

Join us for a two-part series

VAN leads a multi-disciplinary team for the Beaverton Downtown Equity Strategy, and we seek feedback from residents who live, work, and/or do business in the city’s downtown area.

We are centering Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and other groups that are most marginalized in decision making to help guide the process and strategies for how the City spends public dollars. Over the next 10 years, the City will invest $100 million in downtown area improvements, and the goal is to prevent and minimize displacement of current residents and businesses; and to create a place where everyone feels like they belong.

If you are a Beaverton resident or a frequent visitor of the City’s downtown area, we invite you to gather for a two-part series held virtually via Zoom. Participants will receive a $25 stipend for each gathering they attend.

Meeting #1: What is the downtown we imagine?
December 8, 2021, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. via Zoom
Explore today’s downtown area and imagine what you would like to see it become.
Meeting #2: What are the possible impacts of changes to downtown?
December 15, 2021, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. via Zoom
Learn about what can happen as a result of investments in an area based on real-world examples from other cities. Share your concerns, questions, and thoughts about how you would like change to occur for Beaverton’s downtown area.
